This study is carried out to investigate the neglect of single's ministry and its effects on church growth. The single’s ministry has been neglected by most churches in Nigeria which gives priority to false success images as opposed to the single’s well-being. Grooming single people in the church to grow in their relationship with the Lord prepares them to serve Christ in all they do. As a result, this nurtures the congregation and allows the church to grow in all ramifications. Five research questions were raised by the research. Four null and alternate hypotheses were formulated to be tested at 0.05 level of significance. The research design deemed fit for this study was simple percentage, a sample size of one hundred and thirty three 133 respondents were randomly selected from a population of 200 Christians. The findings here revealed that most singles has deviate from their role in spreading the gospel and settled for less since they have been ignored by the church especially by the married members. Also, most singles often feel reluctant to share their ideas on marital issues because they feel it would be irrelevant to the married couples that rely solely on their experiences in marriage. Some recommendations were made that will help the singles and the church on growth and development of the church.
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background of the Problem
The single’s ministry today happens to be crisis as it is wrongly presented to the Christian fold. This crisis begins with decline of the church’s efforts to minister to single adults. While the singles population keep increasing1, with most singles youths being never-marrieds, yet churches are not making the effort to the reach them. They focus more on families forgetting that, every family started with just two single adults. The single’s ministry seems to be in the midst of a crisis, since it fails young people because of its inability to help them develop into mature Christians2. Not every churches are called to establish the singles ministry but all churches are obliged to minister to every single adult.
