Led by the state NMA chairman, Dr NSIKAK Nyoyoko and Secretary, Dr Ema Inyang, the leadership of the NMA also inspected the ongoing work at the new 300 bed Isolation Center, while delivering personal protective Equipments to medical experts at the Methodist General Hospital , Ituk Mbang. Recall that the state government has said it was currently constructing a three hundred-bed isolation centre at the general hospital, to support existing facilities set aside to house suspected COVID-19 cases.
Speaking with the press, Dr NYOYOKO said the move was part of the NMA’s efforts to ensure the protection of its members, as they fight the COVID-19 scourge from the front. He noted that the protection of society without compromising the safety of doctors was Paramount to the association at this times. He thanked Ini Ememobong Foundation, HENSEK Integrated Services and Mr Abass Ekop for donating PPE to the NMA while urging more individuals and corporate bodies to help the association and government in curbing the surge of Covid 19.
Receiving the items, Dr MARY UDOH, Medical Superintendent at the Methodists General Hospital, Ituk Mbang, thanked the NMA for the gesture and commended the state government for the new isolation centre.
The next set of Hospitals to be visited by NMA for donation of PPE and hand sanitizers are General Hospitals in Oron, Okobo, Etinan, Eket amongst others.
